I love Souls Harbour so much. After having 100% staff retention for 2 years straight during the pandemic, we are seeing expansion and of course, some are moving on to new seasons in life. I love each person dearly, but it's not realistic to expect everyone to stay forever in one job. I'm just so grateful that when push came to shove, our team had staying power, and never gave up on keeping our doors open to be ready to serve.

1. Data Care Specialist - Are you a stickler for rules? Do you love it when your pencils are perfectly aligned, with all the erasers facing the same way? Do you type 60 words a minute on a slow day? Are you a whiz with spreadsheets or databases? Do you enjoy serving in the background?

As a Data Care Specialist, you’re part of the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission development team. Working under the leadership of the Chief Development Officer and using the Silent Partner CRM, you will ensure donations are processed with perfection! 2. Mission Mart Receiver - Does the idea of social enterprise intrigue you? Do you love working with people? Great organizational skills? We are looking for someone who has strong people and organizational skills, and sees the value in maintaining order and systems. The Receiver will create a welcoming environment through positive reinforcement of donors and volunteers, have outstanding customer service, and efficient stockroom practices.

3. Shelter Shift Worker - Do you have a passion for helping struggling people? Do you want to be a friend to the friendless? Are you able to practice tough love and enforce rules?
The Souls Harbour Rescue Mission Men's Life Recovery Shelter is a 9 bed recovery program to help men with drug, alcohol or gambling addictions or other life controlling problems such as homelessness, anger or mental health issues. We use a 12 step program as well as practical life lessons and guidance from the Bible. This is a Christian program that is designed to assist men in regaining their active place in society by ministering to the whole man; physically, mentally, spiritually and socially.
This position is located at our Halifax Men's Shelter (5568 Cunard Street) and will require evenings and overnight shifts. Weekends are also required.

4. Wellness Navigator - Homelessness and addictions are complex issues. Many of the clients we work with have the added struggle of various mental illnesses. This position is a 4 month contract position to implement a Wellness Navigation Program.
This person will create a systemized opportunity for our men to be assessed in terms of their medical and emotional needs. This service will be integrated into our Life Recovery Program, and as people are screened, those that need additional advocacy will be worked with one-on-one to get the help they need for full recovery.
Previous counseling and social service sector experience is required. This person must have have the necessary skills to develop a new program and to work with other community partners, including recruitment of volunteers.
