On A Mission To Mobilize!

I took a couple days off and came back to a new copy of the Business Voice on my desk.  In the article, Celebrating All Of Us, by our Hali-famous Faten Alshazly.  She gave us three great ways to become more engaged with our community, which of course is right in line with her business name, "We, Us, Them."

For many years I wrote an aritcle for a trade publication about community, so my ears always perk up when I see others who also encourage engagement, not for the purpose of growing their business, but as good citizens.  Becoming too insular creates a climate of non-acceptance.  The only way to feel comfortable with people who think or look differently than we do, is to be around them.  And I dare say we may just start feeling a little more comfortable in our own skin, too!

As we have had a dearth of volunteers during covid-times, we are ramping up for a fall volunteer campaign, so I loved her first thought on getting involved:

"1. Volunteer
Find something that interests you and donate your time and energy to help bring it to life! There is always a community need for eager and dedicated volunteers. Festivals, shelters, food banks, community events, and more need your enthusiasm!"

I have always loved the Halifax Chamber of Commerce's focus on inclusion and community. It's important we remember the age old Golden Rule, and their focus on community really helps us to look out for each other.  And Nova Scotians are so good at that!  If you'd like to volunter with us, click the link to sign up!
