Job Description
Job Title: Special Events Coordinator
Organizational Relationships & Supervision:
Location of Position: 5568 Cunard St & some in Bridgewater. Flexibility to work from home.
Reports to: Executive Director
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Must agree to Doctrinal and Mission Statement
- Must have own vehicle.
- Must pass criminal record check
- Ability to work evenings & weekends on a regular basis
Qualifications:
- Minimum education of a bachelor degree in a relevant field.
- Possess good personal organization, prioritization and time management skills.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable making cold calls & introducing yourself and the mission to strangers.
- Excellent people and presentation skills.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Must be able to sell snow in the arctic.
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently and lead volunteer teams.
- Effectively communicate, comprehend instructions and follow directives.
- Be proficient in the use Word and Excel, or Google docs and sheets.
- Typing speed of 40 wpm.
- Ability & willingness to learn and implement our principles of donor development.
- CFRE accreditation an asset.
Expected Results:
Objectives:
1. Follow guidelines for fundraising as set by Canadian Council of Christian Charities and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals, both of which we hold memberships.

2. Work closely with the Executive Director to raise friends and funds for Souls Harbour RESCUE Mission by making us the “top of mind” charity in Nova Scotia for issues surrounding hunger, homelessness and poverty.
3. Have a ministry to our donors.
Specific Duties:
- Work with CEO to host signature special events to bring in $100,000+
- Ride For Refuge bike and walk a thon
- Coldest Night of the Year - Bridgewater location
- Bluenose Marathon Charity Challenge
- Love Your Neighbour Fund Raising Banquet
- Attend community and networking meetings
- Speak in local churches to promote events 5 - 15 minute presentations
- Be the main liaison for 3rd party fundraising events
Remuneration & Benefits:
Hours: This is a full time, 40-hour per week position with the flexibility to work from home. A large portion of the hours will be evenings and weekends.
Remuneration: Based on experience. Willing to coach someone just starting their career.
Benefit plan after 3 months is required in most cases. Mission pays half.
