SOULS HARBOUR RESCUE MISSION AND PATHWAYS TO FREEDOM ANNOUNCE MERGER

For Immediate Release

SOULS HARBOUR RESCUE MISSION AND PATHWAYS TO FREEDOM ANNOUNCE MERGER

Halifax, NS --- (Wednesday, December 7, 2016) --- The boards of directors of Souls Harbour RESCUE Mission and Pathways To Freedom are pleased to announce the merger of the two organizations.  The merger will create a new and stronger ministry to the poor, hungry, addicted, homeless, and needy in Halifax, Bridgewater and now, throughout federal and provincial correctional institutions in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

The combination of the two non-profit organizations will result in better integration of programs and services to the community.

“The benefit of this merger is that it takes mission work outside of the mission, and into the prisons.  And it also connects ex-cons into a supportive environment”, says Pastor Ken, Chaplain and Co-Founder of Souls Harbour.

The new organization will now have a united purpose, and will be able to better expand into more correctional facilities throughout the maritimes.

Executive Director, Bob George, of Pathways To Freedom has this to say, “I’m happy to be able to release the administration and fundraising to Michelle Porter of Souls Harbour.  My real passion and calling is to work on the ground level to provide hope and healing to those who are reentering our communities.

Teaming the two ministries will provide new vision going forward, as Chaplain Ken and Chaplain Bob seek to purchase property that will house ex-cons and those with other life-controlling problems in a long-term recovery program.

“This is my best Christmas present!  Last year, we received a new kitchen.  This year, we are receiving Pathways To Freedom.  What more can we ask for, than to be able to set a man free?  Our boards were both working towards the same vision of recovery homes, so now we can combine our efforts, save money, and be doubly stronger,” says Michelle Porter, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Souls Harbour.

The merger of two ministries will result in a combined effort that will reduce administration costs, eliminate duplication of services, and unify the purpose and services to best help the community.

To celebrate, a Christmas Party will be held at Souls Harbour this Friday, December 9 from 5:00-7:00.  Snacks provided.  Come and meet the staff of both agencies!  5568 Cunard St.  All welcome.
