Campaign Video Revealed
Today is a pretty momentous day for me. When the Million Dollar Bus rolled into town last week, I was working late. A mutual friend, Kevin, called and asked if he could give Ryan and Mandy my number. They called me, and I said, "I'm here anyway, so come on by." They didn't have a place to park yet, and although I couldn't help them there, I offered them our shower, food, wifi and the all-essentail coffee from our new donated Keurig.
We spent some time together, and I ended up leaving them with the run of the mission and went home, telling them to make themselves at home and come by in the morning. They did, and we talked about ideas for groups they could help out in Halifax. Their ideal charity is a smaller charity, with a project that would cost around $5000.
Fast forward a day or two, and I got a text from "the bus people" asking if we would consider allowing them to be their chosen charity. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
At the same time, Sharon opened an envelope and found we had received a matching grant from The Windsor Foundation for $50,000 for our LIFE Recovery Shelter. With an adidtional $50,000, we would have the funds complete the entire build, including the main floor areas with accessible showers, laundry, new windows and insulation.
And so, adding a zero, we developed a campaign to raise the Final Fifty! In one week, Ryan and Mandy worked day and into the night to create a campaign video and set up a crowdfunding site that also allows for income tax receipting.
TODAY IS THE DAY!!
The campaign video launched, and we couldn't be more pleased! Watch it for yourself and let me know what you think!
