"In the category of Community Leadership and Enhancement, the 2006 Women of Distinction Award goes to..." some other lady. Oh well! I didn't get voted in as a Woman of Distinction tonight but I had a wonderful time sitting with friends and enjoying the evening. I didn't know I had fans, but a group of ladies surprised me and purchased tickets ($85!) just to come out and support me!
At one point in the evening they said, "Did you have an acceptance speech ready?!" "Yes." "READ IT TO US!!" Well, that was a little embarrassing on the spot, so I promised I would blog it:
"How can I get to Heaven?"
The Bible says, "Sell everything
you have and give it to the poor."
6 years ago, my husband & I did just that.
We sold what we owned, moved to Regina,
cashed in our RSP's, and founded
Regina RESCUE Mission.
One of the first people we contacted while
conducting our needs assessment was the
founding director of Soul's Harbour, Geri
Carroll, who passed away this year.
I'd like to accept this award in her memory.
